From Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Holmgren

Happening at BHS

October 28, 2019

Learning Commons: Mrs. Holmgren and Mrs. Carson attended an overdrive workshop in Drayton Valley on PD Day Friday, October 25. We were able to order some more digital titles for use for all students in WRSD.

Garden:   We received 75 tulip bulbs courtesy of the Royal Canadian Legion. Last Thursday, Mrs. Holmgren and some student volunteers dug out the flower bed by our school sign; and replaced the soil. The bulbs will be planted this week in honour and in memory of our Veterans.

Football:  - On October 24 the Cougars hosted Hannah, the top ranked team in the province. The Cougars suffered their first defeat of the season in that game, losing by a score of 83-38. That leaves Hannah still ranked first and our Cougars ranked second in the province. The Cougars are now set for playoffs with the first game being on November 9th. All future games will be played in Lacombe. The Provincials will be held in Raymond, Alberta this year.

Volleyball: The Junior Volleyball Teams hosted a tournament on the 25 and 26th of October, and made an amazing showing. Breton Gold won a silver medal and Breton Blue earned 3rd. place in their pool. The Gold team hosted six teams and the Blue hosted three.

GRAD: Many thanks to everyone who came to the Ukrainian Supper and Dance and also those who donated to and/or participated in the Silent Auction Fundraiser for the Grad Class of 2020. There was an excellent turnout and the Grad class netted over $4000.00 for their efforts. Thanks as well to the Breton Ag. Society for providing this fundraising opportunity for our students.

Staff and Students of Breton High School would like to invite the public to attend the Remembrance Day Service at our school on November 8. Please plan to be seated by 10:30 a.m.
